Leaves and bowl (acrylic painting)

Acylic on canvas board (13x18 cm), with acrylic paints from Winsor & Newton. This time, I used the slow drying medium and noticed a much improved oil-like fluidity.

Thanks for reading!

Three apples (acrylic painting)

Acrylics on canvas board (12x18 cm).

This was an experiment, as I haven't used acrylics for a long time.
I tried to use the usual oil painting techniques for alla prima, namely wet on wet, but it didn't turn out as I expected. I forgot how quickly acrylics dry on canvas and on the palette, even though I added a bit of retarder medium. I used some WN Galeria paints I had (still a student on this :) ).

However, I like the result somehow.

Thanks for reading!

Mark Postlethwaite (aviation artist)

Mark Postlethwaite is another aviation artist from UK - working exclusively with acrylics - who I've learned to appreciate.
Two books were written depicting most of his work in the last 20 years:

Besides the biggest works on canvas/linen, lots of interesting cover art works were done by Mark for several series of books from Osprey Publishing, a company specialized in military history.

Some examples:

Mark is a member of UK's Guild of Aviation Artists.

River near Spanish frontier (acrylic)

This acrylic painting (45x34 cm) was based on a picture from the Spanish-Portuguese frontier near the Douro river.

Fairey Swordfish Mk.I (acrylic)

I have a long standing interest in aviation subjects, in particular from the 20th century.
This was my first real try on painting one such airplane.

This one is a Fairey Swordfish Mk. I, a torpedo-carrier biplane from the Royal Navy, here with its pre-war colors (1939).

This canvas is about 30x60 cm in size.

Free theme (acrylic)

This painting (acrylic on canvas panel) came out inspired by a related one on a landscape from Alentejo.

Alentejo landscape (acrylic)

A picture with a landscape from Alentejo became an inspiration for this painting (acrylic on canvas panel).

Country house (acrylic)

Last August, as I was starting my learning process, I had the oportunity to draw this country house and create an acrylic painting.
